(Clarksdale, Mississippi) - Coahoma Community College proudly announces that Mister and Miss Coahoma Community College, along with several dedicated Student Government Association (SGA) officers, are currently participating in the National Association of Student Affairs Professionals Annual Student Leadership Institute at Claflin University.

This six-day conference, dedicated to leadership development, promises to be a transformative experience for our student leaders.

The Student Leadership Institute (SLI) is renowned for its intensive, interactive, and stimulating curriculum. Designed specifically for newly elected leaders from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), the program covers a wide array of topics essential for fostering effective student leadership.

Through the Institute, participants will:

  • Understand the mission and need for Historically Black Colleges and Universities.
  • Understand the role of student leaders on campuses.
  • Develop an appreciation for planning and organization in the development of students.
  • Serve as catalysts on their respective campuses for empowerment and change.
  • Develop skills necessary to work with other student organizations, faculty, administration, and fellow students to establish cooperation and positive attitudes as the foundation for success.
  • Encompass a solid understanding of leadership development, its principles and service in the Black community as related to the world and nation’s uplift and progress.
  • Develop a relationship with campus administration to enhance collaborative solutions.
  • Experience collaborative learning and enjoyment while developing invaluable skills.

From understanding roles and responsibilities to mastering conflict resolution and effective communication, the institute equips attendees with practical skills to enhance campus experiences and uplift their respective organizations.
