DeVaulThe Coahoma Community College Division of Health Sciences has announced that Driscoll DeVaul, DHA, RRT, will serve as the keynote speaker for the Division’s spring 2023 pinning ceremony. The event is scheduled on Thursday, May 11, at 10:00 a.m. in the Pinnacle.

DeVaul currently serves as the Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs at the University of Mississippi’s School of Health-Related Professions (SHRP), where he also serves as an assistant professor in the Department of Health Sciences. 

The longtime medical educator will address completers of the Associate Degree Nursing and Respiratory Care programs.

In his academic leadership role, Dr. DeVaul is passionate about preparing and equipping the generation of diverse healthcare professionals to support UMMC’s mission of improving the health and well-being of our Mississippi residents.  Before joining SHRP in 2021, Dr. DeVaul served as the Director of Respiratory Therapy/ECMO and Associated Clinical Programs at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, where he successfully led both pediatric and adult departments for several years and was an unsung hero for his work in COVID-19 pandemic readiness, being a resource to other hospitals and state health agencies as they work to provide the best care possible throughout the global pandemic. 

In addition, Dr. DeVaul is a graduate of Hinds Community College, where he received an Associate’s degree in Respiratory Care Technology, Mississippi State University, where he received a Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences, and the University of Mississippi, where he received a Master’s degree in Health Sciences and a Doctorate degree in Health Care Administration.  He also serves as an active member of the Mississippi Association for Respiratory Care, the American Association for Respiratory Care, and is Mississippi Public Health Association. 

He is married to Kenisha Bourne DeVaul of Brandon, Mississippi, and the couple has three children Madison, Joshua, and Matthew.
