With the flooding in of vaccines, the COVID-19 attack on the U.S wanes. Nonetheless, Director of Educational Outreach Letha Richards is ensuring preventive measures are effective.

Richards is leading efforts to continue guarding the Coahoma Community College campus against further transmission of the virus. The creation of a task force, which includes a cross-section of campus leadership, comes to the aid of students, faculty, staff, and visitors of the campus, with a plan involving campus-wide access to the highly protective KN95 masks.

The corps meets weekly to note updates and hopes to be prepared to manage possible coronavirus-related impacts. Group members are to initiate communication with the rest of the campus community.

"The work of the task force is in alignment with, but does not replace, the broader COVID-19 health efforts undertaken at the county and state levels," said Richards. Members are in frequent contact with federal, state, and local government and public health agencies for up-to-date information, including the latest guidelines and recommendations issued for colleges and universities, she added.

Maintaining a commitment to education and service and preserving the College's academic, business, and administrative operations are overarching aims. An awareness campaign will keep individuals mindful of key practices to help sustain each other's health.
