Clarksdale, MS – The holiday spirit is alive and well at Coahoma Community College (CCC) as the Health Science Department and Student Council have come together to sponsor a "Christmas House Drive" to benefit the residents of the Mississippi State Hospital. This charitable initiative has seen an outpouring of generosity from the CCC family and the surrounding community.
This year’s drive has seen an overwhelming response from students, faculty, staff, and community members. Donated items include clothing, board games, music, activity sets, hygiene products, and more. Each item represents a token of kindness and care, ensuring that the hospital’s residents can enjoy a brighter holiday season.
“The response from our students, faculty, and staff has been overwhelming,” said Dr. Chequitia Dixon, Dean of Health Sciences. “We are proud to extend our support to the residents of the Mississippi State Hospital and hope that these donations bring warmth and happiness to their holidays.”
The Christmas House Drive reflects CCC's commitment to giving back to the community and fostering a spirit of compassion among its students. By collaborating on this initiative, the Health Science Department and Student Council have not only supported a worthy cause but also encouraged the entire campus to embrace the true meaning of the holiday season.
“We wanted to do something that would make a real difference,” said Dr. Dixon. “The Christmas House Drive is a way to show that Coahoma cares, and we’re grateful for everyone who contributed to this cause.”
The donations will be delivered to the Mississippi State Hospital in time for the holidays, ensuring that the residents feel the love and support from CCC.
The hospital serves individuals who are often in need of community support and connection, making the Christmas House Drive a vital initiative to spread cheer and positivity.
Although this year’s drive is complete, CCC encourages the community to remain involved in future outreach projects. Whether through volunteering, donating, or participating in service-learning opportunities, there are countless ways to contribute to the college’s mission of making a meaningful impact.
