Coahoma Community College is preparing for an activity-filled fall semester that will kick off with Week of Welcome (WOW), a time of celebration and transition for new and returning students. As the dust settles for the new CCC Tiger Scholars from their first week of classes, all currently-enrolled Tigers are invited to participate in WOW activities starting on Aug. 21.
Director of Student Engagement Karen Woods-Done looks forward to connecting with students as participate in the fun-filled Week or Welcome.
"Students now have the feel of what their campus life will be like and during Welcome Week they will get a chance to interact with the many clubs and organizations on campus," Woods-Done said. "We not only want students to have a healthy and successful year, but we want them to feel at home, knowing that they have the support and resources they need to thrive."
Some incoming students began their Tiger experience in early August during New Student Orientation (NSO). NSO is a program designed to give all incoming Freshman and Transfer Students, on & off campus, a head starts on the on-campus/student life experience. NSO also briefly introduces the college’s expectations, student life, admissions, instructional programs of study, housing, financial aid, fees, expenses, student health, insurance, goals, mission, policies, retention tips, and counseling services.
"We want everyone to bring their excitement and energy during welcome week to really kickoff the fall semester,” added Woods-Done. "These academic and social events will help students connect, establish a sense of place, and prepare for the 2023-2024 school year."
