In recent news, a group of dedicated students put forth their utmost effort in the
pursuit of the prestigious Mister and Miss Homecoming titles. Representing CCC Tigers
were Waldarius Johnson from Clarksdale, MS, and Skyla Ratliff from Hollendale, MS,
who have now assumed their roles as the newly crowned Mister and Miss CCC Homecoming
King and Queen for the year 2023-2024.
Sophomore and Business Administration major, Waldarius Johnson, expressed his heartfelt
gratitude for clinching the Mister Homecoming title. He shared that it initially felt
like a surreal dream, especially after facing defeat in his first-year bid for Mr.
Freshman. Johnson credited his determination, stating that he refused to doubt himself,
even in the face of setbacks. He intends to use his newfound position to inspire young
men never to give up, emphasizing the importance of resilience and self-preservation
for the future.
On the other hand, sophomore and Pre-Nursing major, Skyla Ratliff, couldn't contain
her excitement at winning the Miss Homecoming title. For Ratliff, this achievement
was a lifelong dream that she ardently pursued since her freshman year. She emphasized
her unwavering commitment to this goal and her unshakable belief in her own capabilities.
Ratliff has always been known for her unyielding work ethic and plans to leverage
her role as Miss Homecoming to make a positive impact on both the school and the community.
She envisions organizing events, fundraisers, and initiatives that foster inclusivity
and boost school spirit.
The coronation of the newly anointed homecoming royalty will take place at the upcoming
homecoming game against Co-Lin on Saturday, October 7, at 5:00 p.m., hosted at the
James E. Miller Stadium.
