Malone

Tre’Shawn Malone has been part of the Admissions team for only a year but is making quite the impression with an Employee of the Month recognition.

The Jonestown, Mississippi, native, who serves as an Admissions clerk/counselor, says he is a bit astonished about being named an Employee of the Month.

“I am not a person who seeks or desires recognition. So, this is very dear to me,” he expressed.

Malone is a graduate of Coahoma Agricultural High School and Coahoma Community College. Viewing his job as giving back, he holds a deep appreciation for having a part in preparing a route to success for students.

When not in the office, you may find him lending a helping hand, playing the piano, or designing cakes. He also refurbishes furniture.

Having earned his bachelor’s in English from Delta State University, he anticipates receiving his master’s next year. He also plans to pursue a doctoral degree in community college leadership.

Referencing the College’s commendable qualities, he says, “Coahoma is a place that many can call home. There are many genuine people on campus.”

The scriptural verses in Philippians 3:13-14 reflect his ambitious outlook on life.

Malone is an active member of the NAACP and Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated.

Elizabeth Melton

Melton

Elizabeth Melton, of Sumner, Mississippi, holds a 17-year tenure with Coahoma Community College. She has an affinity for history, which she hopes to convey to each of her students.

Noting the institution’s student-centered approach, Melton says, “I love Coahoma. CCC is an incredibly special institution, which values its faculty, staff, and student population.”

Melton is the wife of Corey Gee. Together they have five children and one grandchild.

She has taught courses, including Western Civilization and American History. When students begin asking thought-provoking questions from the lesson, she learns as much from them as they do from her.

She received a Bachelor of Education degree in social science and a Master of Education degree in history from Delta State University. Melton recently attained the Quality Matters “Applying the Rubric” certification.

Melton is a licensed teacher and holds an endorsement in Social Studies. She has taught ninth-grade Mississippi Studies and Geography classes as well as eighth and 11th grade U.S. History.

“I am delighted to be chosen as Employee of the Month,” she said of the title. She considers it a privilege to work at Coahoma Community College and finds joy in instances where CCC faculty/staff are equipping students for success.

Melton advises putting God first in every facet of life.
